CRIME AND PUNISHMENT

The difference between crime and punishment is very important in the legal and justice context, this because the penalty refers to the sanctions imposed by the competent authority or court, this as a consequence of committing an infraction or crime, these may include community service, fines, imprisonment or other corrections all depending on the severity of the crime committed by the individual.
On the other hand, punishment refers to the negative consequence imposed in response to an action considered illegal or inappropriate, the punishment is intended to deter the individual from committing the same mistakes in the future, it also seeks to protect society and restore the balance of it.
In legal systems, behind the crimes and punishments may vary, and may include retribution, deterrence and prevention as well as rehabilitation, this will depend on the different jurisdictions.
